AIAGR Lunch + Learn: Balancing Light and Life Webinar

Advanced Glazings Ltd. will present during this Lunch Learn Webinar from 12:00pm to 1:00pm EST.

Topic: Balancing Light And Life — Managing Connection In Today’s Built Environment

Course Description:

In today’s world, people spend nearly 90% of their lives inside buildings. The design, construction, and functionality of these buildings are crucial for the mental and physical well-being of their occupants. Traditional windows often fail to provide the necessary daylight, causing glare, discomfort, and eventually leading to the use of window coverings that negate their benefits. This AIA-accredited course, “Balancing Light and Life in Today’s Built Environment,” addresses this challenge by introducing highly insulated translucent glass facades. These facades harvest sunlight, creating healthier, happier, and more productive environments. Unlike traditional opaque and transparent building envelope materials, which fail to balance natural light and insulation effectively, translucent glass offers an innovative solution. When combined with transparent and opaque, it seamlessly manages the connection between the interior and exterior, enhancing both aesthetic appeal and occupant well-being. The course explores how this advanced material can meet and exceed non-residential building and energy codes, stay within budget, and ensures superior thermal performance, exciting designs, and longevity.

Join us to learn the simplicity, logic, and cost-saving benefits of designing and constructing non-residential buildings that are not only energy-efficient and code-compliant but also aesthetically pleasing and conducive to occupant well-being.

After completion of this course, participants will:

Learning Objective 1:
Participants will learn why it is crucial to effectively manage the connection between the interior and exterior in todays built environment, along with what it looks like to have too much or too little connection and the issues that go along with each.

Learning Objective 2:
Translucent glazings are introduced and students will receive usable tools to apply into their designs to make better buildings for the occupants, community, and environment as a whole.

Learning Objective 3:
Participants will learn how to deploy translucent glazing materials effectively into their designs, effectively controlling glare, preserving views, and maximizing thermal comfort.

Learning Objective 4:
Participants will learn the difference between several types of translucent materials and what criteria must be met for it to be considered an ideal translucent, suitable for designing code compliant and beautifully lasting architectural marvels in todays built environment.

* Attendees will earn 1.0 HSW AIA Learning Unit.*

Seminars are free to all current AIAGR Members and Students. Non-AIAGR Members are welcome to attend and pay a suggested $5 Donation by Credit Card on Eventbrite.
