AIAGR Gerald R. Ford International Airport ConRAC Hard Hat Tour
Hosted by: Fishbeck
Event Description:
Gerald R. Ford International Airport is poised to support significant passenger growth and overall economic health of our region. Guests will enjoy a more comfortable, convenient, and enhanced experience through accessible facilities and innovative programs. West Michigan will benefit from a world-class international airport close to home, and the entire community will be lifted up by the positive economic impact.
Join Fishbeck for a behind-the-scenes tour of Michigan’s first Consolidated Rental Car Facility (ConRAC) being built as part of the Gerald R. Ford International Airport’s $600M ELEVATE project. The project will bring together the core functions of renting and servicing vehicles for all the agencies that rent at the airport.
Today rental car pick-up and return takes place on the first floor of the airport parking garage. Each car visits a remote facility for cleaning and preparations before the next rental. A CONRAC will allow for space for both functions, ready/return, and quick turnaround, to happen in the East Lot. More than 2,000 construction jobs will be created, cumulatively, for the entirety of the project.
The introduction of a 3-story Quick Turn-Around facility (QTA) dedicated to rental car operations will reduce vehicle miles traveled by about three miles per vehicle, or 600,000 miles per year, saving approximately $84,000 in fuel cost. Additionally, up to 90% of water used for the CONRAC car wash will be recycled.
Join us to learn about:
- How this new facility will reduce 600,000 miles in rental vehicle travel, by removing the round trip from remote fueling facilities.
- How the car wash equipment will reduce the use of water by 90%.
- The increased safety and comfort for rental customers, by keeping them within the terminal environment until reaching their vehicle.
- The code implications of providing a multi-level fueling system within a building.
* Site safety requires closed toed footwear (steel toes not required), hard hats are required to have chin straps (there are plenty on site for visitors), cut level 5 gloves and standard eye protection.*
