GRAVITY TAPHOUSE GRILLE
Our design goals were to completely transform an existing chain restaurant into a high-energy tap house. Our vision was to create a variety of opportunities for people depending on mood or feel; communal tables, cozy booths, banquette seating, a brightly lit four season room and outdoor patio. Our client felt it was important to accommodate different dining experiences at every visit. To create a unique dining experience, we began our transformation by selecting a palette of materials with an industrial and warm feel. Lighting was selected that would emphasize the 64 craft beers on tap, which is an important feature of the bar space. A unique experience to visitors is the keg room that is displayed by changing colored LED lighting, which provides a distinctive visual feature and is seen when entering the restaurant. The steel bar grating and wood canopy element help separate the bar space from the restaurant dining area. The warm copper bar top & warmly lit textured wood bar front plays off the steel bar grate and polished concrete floors and helps to support the desired atmosphere. A backlit copper and steel architectural art piece is the focal point to the main dining room as well as one of the private dining rooms. Garage doors define the space between the four season room and patio. When the garage doors are open the patio creates a backdrop for with warm fireplaces, up lit board formed concrete walls and landscaping. The project started design in April, 2014 and was open for business in November, 2014.
