Location: Hudsonville, Michigan
Imagine Hudsonville 2030 was created as part of a collaboration between the Ottawa County Planning Commission and the City of Hudsonville. The master plan, developed by Nederveld, utilizes a bold combination of design, illustrations and graphics to clearly depict a future vision that will be implemented in the City over the next 15 years.
A cornerstone of the user-friendly document is a section entitled “Implementation Strategies” which provides short-, mid-, and long-term actions and projects that will help to build and reinforce a Distinctive, Livable, Vibrant, and Connected City.
The creation of Imagine Hudsonville 2030 also employed a robust public input process that included a wide range of community stakeholders. This process ultimately inspired an entire community and turned residents, business owners, students, and families into passionate advocates of the plan because their ideas for the future of the City are embedded into the document.
It is anticipated that Imagine Hudsonville 2030 will serve as a model for other urban communities that are working to enhance their master plans and striving to find more effective, exciting methods of engaging their citizenry in the planning process.
