The expansion of Brightmoor Community Church reflects its goals of: removing barriers to Christ, visibility and a sense of “all are welcome”.
We began with visibility, intuitive wayfinding. A 60-foot-tall illuminated cross marks the path to the front entry and provides exceptional visibility from the highway. The entrance façade is transparent, providing a glimpse of the activity inside that provides a calming experience. At night it glistens a vibrant energy.
The configuration of the building provides multiple paths to the Church that all radiate from the word of Christ. The structure for the Hub and the new Worship Center draw to a single focal point: a Bible embedded in the platform of the Worship Center. A radii can be drawn from the entrance Cross, to the plaque marking the location of the Bible. This creates opportunity to reflect and become centered.
The Hub greets all participants as the enter the facility. It provides a chance to build community through social spaces, both formal and informal, enticing people to stop and engage in fellowship. The Hub also assures clear wayfinding with each ministry having a “front door” in the space making it easy for visitors to find program areas.
The new Worship Center embraces 2,100 for weekly services. The environment is design to support vibrant worship and high-quality holiday plays. The state-of-the-art theatre-style space includes green rooms, choir rehearsal room, and additional back-of-house support areas.
The previous Worship Center was converted into a Youth Center allowing it to double as a youth worship space and school auditorium. This also made it possible to utilize the technology, lighting and sound systems already in place.
