The AIA Grand Rapids board has been seeking candidates to fill our AIA Michigan Director position. We have found one interested individual in Paul Weber (see bio). We now have a period for open nominations to the general membership per our bylaws. With this announcement of open nominations, the election will then begin, through Survey Monkey, for our members by February 11. If you are interested, or know of someone else who would be interested, in running for the AIA Michigan Director position, please let a member of the AIAGR board know as soon as possible.
Paul Weber is a Project Manager/Architect at Progressive AE, where he has worked since 2015. Paul earned both his Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Science at Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan. He has a diverse range of experience including hospitality, multi-family housing, industrial, retail, K-12 and higher education, mass transit, municipal, and correctional. He is currently serving as the Project Management Team Leader at PAE. Paul has a passion for growth and learning. He believes that the role of a holistic architect is to have a firm grasp on all aspects of professional practice, including construction, estimating, contracts, negotiations, design, engineering, and beyond. He has an aptitude for politics. Paul has been a member of the AIA Mid-Michigan chapter since 2005 and still resides in Williamston, Michigan. He has recently transferred to AIA Grand Rapids chapter as he felt his home's location and extensive backlog of Detroit work affords him an excellent opportunity to serve as AIA Director. Aside from work, Paul and his wife, Alicia, operate a hobby farm and are key members of a couple animal rescues. In their spare time, they enjoy running, hiking, skiing, and snowmobiling. Paul also enjoys hockey, basketball, golf, and woodworking.
