AIAGR Annual Business Meeting
When:   Tuesday, May 2, 12 noon 
Where:  Progressive AE, 1811 4 Mile Road NE, Grand Rapids, MI
Please join the AIA Grand Rapids Board for our annual business meeting. We will be closing our open nominations period for our annual election and outlining what we have accomplished in 2016/17 as well as where we are headed in 2017/18. 
Vice President/President-Elect:  Three-Year Term (2017-2020)
  • Three year term consists of vice president in year one, president in year two, and past president in year three.
  • On average spends about about 8-12 hours of prep and correspondence each month, plus an additional 2-10 hours in meetings per month for board and events planning.
  • Attend AIA Michigan leadership retreat (October), AIA Grassroots in Washington DC (March), and AIA National Convention (May) - paid by the chapter.
  • Perform duties of the president in the event of absence of the president, president's disability, or refusal or failure to act.
  • Assist the president with significant events (AIA National/Michigan issues, honor awards committee).
  • Set up chapter program for the following year.
  • Membership outreach.
  • Provide articles periodically for newsletters. 

Treasurer:  Two-Year Term (2017-2019)
  • General supervision of the books of accounts for the chapter.
  • Set up the annual director's budgets of income and expense.  Update board quarterly to help keep board within budget.
  • Review bank statements and pay bills monthly.
  • Collect money for chapter events.
  • Obtain bi-annual review of our accounts by an outside accountant.
  • Submit year end to account for tax filing.

Sponsorship Director:  Two-Year Term (2017-2019)
  • Our chapter programs succeed because of our sponsors. These are our partners we build upon to accomplish our goals.  With the help of the board, this role coordinates obtaining sponsors and assuring they get their benefits from us.
  • Program sponsors are obtained for the honor awards (with the president), monthly programs, and the AIAGR annual golf outing benefiting AIAGR's student scholarship program.
  • In the most recent past, the sponsorship director has also served as the chair of our honor awards committee.
  • Serve as a valuable member of the board by attending monthly board meetings.
  • Serves as the relationship conduit to our sponsors in order to maintain the long-term relationships and to build new ones. 

Continuing Education Director:  Two-Year Term (2017-2019)
  • Become familiar with the intricacies of the AIA continuing education process.
  • Attend the National CES workshop held at AIA convention (AIA scholarship submission).
  • Provide learning unit sign-up at monthly lunch and learns and send in learning units to the AIA.
  • Provide information to the members regarding learning unit requirements and continuing education issues.
  • Coordinate and develop continuing education seminar opportunities (CEU marathon days at CSI/AIAGR spring products show and fall event).
  • Provide articles periodically for newsletters.
