Accoya®, the world’s leading high-technology wood, is supplied by Universal Forest Products. Beginning as sustainably sourced, fast growing, softwood, Accoya® wood undergoes a modification process from the surface to the core and has measurable consistency throughout. The result: a durable, stable and beautiful material that won’t rot, twist, warp or shrink. Think of Accoya wood as having the performance characteristics of the most durable tropical hardwoods—and with industry-leading environmental credentials.
Lunch and Learn on "Acetylated Wood" and "Self-tinting Dynamic Glass for Daylighting and Energy Efficiency"
Friday, August 28, 2015 - 11:30am to 1:30pm
Lunch & Learn
FSU/GRCC Applied Technology Center, Room 232, 151 Fountain NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503
A new world of sustainable, low-maintenance wood products including windows, doors, decking, siding and trim is available using Accoya wood. The exceptional durability and stability mean windows do not swell shut, doors continually open freely and coatings last up to three times longer—throughout the minimum 50-year above-ground and 25-year in-ground / freshwater life of Accoya wood.
The second presentation will be about self-tinting dynamic glass and will provide an overview of dynamic glass and how the use of self-tinting dynamic glass can promote proper daylighting and energy efficiency. Specific case studies will be modeled to compare standard glazing packages to glass package incorporating self-tinting dynamic glass.
This lunch and learn will offer 2 HSW AIA learning units.
Lunch will be provided. This lunch and learn is free to all current AIAGR members and students. Non-AIAGR members must pay $15 by check (make checks out to AIA Grand Rapids and send to AIA Grand Rapids, Attention: Deborah Dik, 10238 10 Mile Road, NE, Rockford, MI 49341) or by credit card at Eventbrite.
